Pool Construction — Equipment Support

Cedarbrook Waterworks is a repair and servicing operation, not a pool builder. On construction and renovation projects, our role is the mechanical equipment: commissioning the pump, filter and heater once they're installed on a new equipment pad.

Where our work fits into a build

A new or renovated pool needs its pump, filter and heater installed, wired and set up correctly before the water goes in. General contractors and pool installers handle the excavation, liner and deck; once the equipment pad is in place, that's where the Diagnostic Service Call and Pump & Filter Equipment Service come in — confirming the new or relocated equipment is running at the pressure and flow it was specified for.

On a renovation where existing equipment is being reused, an assessment visit before the project starts tells the contractor and homeowner whether the pump and heater are worth keeping or should be budgeted for replacement as part of the plan. This avoids a common gap on renovation jobs, where new decking and a new liner go in around a pump that was already due for a seal replacement, and the fault only turns up once the pool is filled.

We coordinate around the contractor's schedule rather than the homeowner's, since equipment commissioning usually happens in the final week of a build, once electrical rough-in is complete and the pad is accessible. A short phone call between our scheduling coordinator and the site contractor is usually enough to find a slot that doesn't hold up the rest of the project.

How we keep a commissioning visit consistent

Equipment commissioning follows the same written checklist used on a repair visit: pressure and flow readings taken at startup, electrical draw on the pump motor, and a heater ignition test. Recording those numbers at commissioning gives the homeowner a baseline to compare against on any future service call, rather than starting from zero the first time something seems off.

The same visit is a practical point to confirm wiring and bonding meet provincial electrical code for pool equipment, and to flag anything that should be corrected before an electrical inspector signs off on the project. Where our technician isn't the one doing the wiring, findings are shared directly with the installing electrician or contractor so nothing gets lost between trades.

Common questions about construction support

Do you build pools or install liners?

No. Cedarbrook Waterworks handles pump, filter and heater equipment only. For excavation, liner, deck and structural work, your general contractor or pool installer remains the lead on the project; we're typically brought in once the equipment pad itself is ready.

Can you assess equipment before a renovation is budgeted?

Yes — a Diagnostic Service Call on the existing pump, filter and heater gives a homeowner or contractor a written basis for deciding what to keep and what to replace before renovation work is scoped, which can save a budget revision partway through the project.

Will you work directly with my contractor?

Yes. We're used to coordinating equipment commissioning around a general contractor's schedule and sharing findings directly with the site team rather than routing everything through the homeowner.

Who do I contact once construction equipment is in place?

Reach out through the contact form or by phone once the equipment pad is set, and we'll schedule a commissioning visit around the contractor's timeline.

A note for homeowners managing their own project

Not every build goes through a general contractor. If you're coordinating a pool renovation yourself, we're glad to walk through the equipment side directly — what's involved in commissioning a new pump and heater, roughly how long it takes on site, and when in your project timeline it makes sense to book us. A quick call before you finalize your equipment order can also confirm the model you're considering is one we stock parts for, which saves a wait later if a seal or cartridge ever needs replacing.
